Heap and Stitch Partner to Put Behavioral Data in Place for BI

Today’s guest post is from Brian Sloane at Stitch.

Businesses have valuable information locked in SaaS applications and databases. To get full value from their data, they need to integrate all of it in a data warehouse or data lake, from which they can build visualizations, reports, and dashboards.

Heap has a great solution for capturing and understanding customer behavioral data. Heap automates data collection and enables you to retroactively remodel the data, and then standardize the format of the data into a user-centric schema. If you replicate that data to a data warehouse, you can integrate the behavioral data with other sources to build a comprehensive view of the customer.

But pushing data into a data warehouse isn’t easy. Building and maintaining pipelines is time-consuming and resource-intensive. A data pipeline has to be able to guarantee accuracy and consistency in the face of large volumes of data, with high availability and industrial-grade security. You could take on the task of writing your own data pipelines, but as data platform executive Jeff Magnusson says, “Engineers should not write ETL. For the love of everything sacred and holy in the profession, this should not be a dedicated or specialized role.”

The importance of unifying data in your data warehouse is why Heap recently launched Customer Data as a Service to directly connect Heap data with Amazon Redshift and Google BigQuery. It’s also why Heap is partnering with Stitch, a cloud-native platform for moving data. With Stitch and Heap together, you can export data from Heap and use Stitch to connect it with Amazon S3, Snowflake, and many other data warehouse platforms. So no matter the data warehouse you use, you can bring rich, retroactive customer behavioral data into the picture with Heap and Stitch. Once you have all of your data in a common repository you can pull together information from different sources, analyze it, and create charts, reports, and other visualizations to help you make better business decisions.

Heap uses Stitch as the data pipeline for bringing some of its third-party databases and sources, such as CRM and product health data, to its own data warehouse. If you use Heap and Stitch too, or want to see how the partnership can improve your ability to create useful business intelligence, let us know and we’ll add you to the closed beta of our new solution.
